For me, the job of the poet is to say things in the language of the heart, to express truths in such a way that there is a direct, intuitive knowing in the reader that passes the limits of language itself. This is part of the irony of poetry, that inspired by that which is forever beyond the limits of the mind, the poet so masters language to the extent that words are no longer obstacles, but windows, through which the reader gazes towards the infinite from the deepest aspect of self. Through a direct experience of spiritual reality through poetic language the reader who is ready is inspired to transcend words in their knowing and enter wholeness.
